The American Society of Bookplate Collectors & Designers and the Asociación Mexicana de Ex Libris invite you to participate in the First Inter-American Ex Libris Congress in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, México from February 25th to 28th , 2009. The events of the Congress will be held primarily at the Posada de la Aldea and the Instituto Allende.

Registration Information
Rates for registration are as follows:
$ 225.00 USD per person received before January 4th, 2009
$ 325.00 USD per person received before February 1st, 2009
Rates for attending companions are:

Accomodations:
The Congress Committee has negotiated special prices at two 4-star hotels in San Miguel. The Host Hotel for the First Inter-American Ex Libris Congress is the Posada de la Aldea. The second hotel is the delightful BW Hotel Monteverde. A limited number of rooms have been reserved at these fine hotels and the prices are listed below. When booking, please reference the "American Society of Bookplate Collectors & Designers".
We ask that you make your reservations promptly to ensure availability. This is a "peak" season as people all over the world are looking for that mid-winter escape. San Miguel de Allende is a very popular international travel destination and hotel rooms are in great demand. By making your reservations early you will also enable the Congress Committee to negotiate for more space to accommodate everyone who wants to attend.
There are many smaller hotels in San Miguel that provide nice accommodations for as little as $30 USD per night.

Information for Artists
These juried exhibitions will represent the best international ex libris artists of today. Many of the designs selected will be used in the exhibition directory. These will be given to all participants in the Congress and available to all viewing the traveling shows.
Special award certificates will be presented to first, second and third place participants, in this juried exhibition.
All print techniques are admissible as long as the final work is an original print. Photo copies are not acceptable.
- Artists must submit "original print" bookplates only up to a maximum of seven
(7) designs. FOUR (4) copies of each design should be submitted.
- As your entries will be used in more than one traveling
exhibition we require FOUR (4) copies of each design.
These will be used in traveling shows to promote ex libris and the artists' works.
- All original bookplates created after year 2005 are acceptable.
- Each bookplate must bear the name or monogram of the individual or institution owning the bookplate.
- The format of the finished bookplates must not exceed 6 inches or
15.2 cm in any of its dimensions-trimmed size. Preferably, bookplates will be printed on acid-free paper.
- Works must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae which includes the artist's full name, date of birth, complete address, awards, recent exhibitions, works in major collections and/or publications.
- Permission to reproduce artwork must be granted by the owner.
- State technique employed in the creation of each piece and the year of execution
- All bookplates submitted will become the property of the American Society of Bookplate Collectors & Designers. These will be used in exhibitions and publications to advance the interest in bookplate art.
- Awards to be conferred include and are limited to:
- Inclusion in the directory and exhibition(s)
- Introduction of the artist to the network of book related associations throughout the Americas and internationally
- Publication and participation in society publications
- The submission of bookplates for the exhibition constitutes acceptance of the conditions set out in this announcement. The "juried" works will be presented in more than one exhibition.
- The deadline for making submissions is January 4th, 2009. Bookplate entries must be postmarked by this date and sent to:
